This lamp shade is hand woven using sisal fibre, a plant that is indigenous to the Andes. The final product is the result of age old crafts skills by local women who can work from home allowing them to also maintain their families. They use a single thread and a repeated crochet stitch in order to produce a vegetable mesh that allows light to pass through.
To get rid of any wrinkles that may appear we recommend disassembling the lamps and using a steam iron with a cotton cloth between. To keep clean all that’s required is to wipe with a damp cloth. Then just let dry with a steam iron.
