Let’s pause: more than an interval, it’s a change of pace.
Let’s Pause is not just a furniture brand, Let’s Pause is a way of understanding life, of doing things over time, looking after life’s small details, of living the moment and being aware of that moment. Because these pieces are not just furniture, they are a part of the land brought into your home, a journey back to nature, to give pause in your day-to-day. And that moment starts with the sense of smell, because our furniture retains its olfactory origins, the aroma of nature, a quality that will endure over its entire life cycle…. its handmade forms with their irregular and organic shapes make each one unique, and their tactile quality celebrates untreated finishes that reconnect with Nature. That’s why we use esparto (Mediterranean grass), poplar wood, cane and rushes because these materials thrive in the open countryside, native plants to the Mediterranean. The expert hands of craftsmen are required to turn these primal materials into lamps, tables, chaise-longues or bed boards. And that is why no varnish or any chemical treatments are used in their manufacture. Meaning that if these objects are returned to where they came from, they will be reclaimed by nature, absorbed back into its cycle. Let’s Pause, an artefact of handmade Nature.
Let’s pause.
Our Materials: Natural Nature.
If there’s a single differentiating feature about Let’s Pause it’s undoubtedly the materials that we use to make our furniture. Esparto from the mountain plains; poplar, reeds and rushes sourced from river banks, palms from palm trees, all different but with one thing in common, that marks us out and makes it unique, their source. Everything grows naturally, uncultivated, nourished only by the rain, the sun and the Mediterranean winds. Harvested in their season, when ripe. Freshly cut, when the materials are at their most malleable, they are worked by artisans who convert them into unique pieces with their expert hands. And as time goes by they change, the green hue turns golden ochre until they are completely dried out. And at the end of this process if they are returned to the plains or the river bank then they simply decompose, returning to the natural cycle of life thanks to the absence of any artificial treatment. Which is why they never loose their scent, or their essence, because aging is just a part of the natural cycle of life.
