It’s that simple. Because glass can be 100% recycled indefinitely without loosing its properties. Because by doing so we help stop the extraction of valuable mineral resources and ground erosion. Because by recycling we reduce the generation of waste. And because when we recycle we minimise the emission of Co2 into the earth’s atmosphere.
Once selected and cleaned it is ground down and becomes a thick dust like material, cullet. This ground cullet is then subjected to very high temperatures in an oven, it is fused with quartz sand, sodium hydroxide and limestone to create a new glass material that has exactly the same properties as that glass obtained directly from the extraction of raw materials.
