Reeds(Arundo donax)

Reeds are the stems of plants belonging to the Poaceae family, commonly known as grasses. Their morphology consists of cylindrical shaped stems plugged at the nodes where leaves form. Reeds grow bending with the prevailing winds, dancing under the sun and the rain. Their warmth and natural air is captured in every piece with which we weave.

Versatile in spirit

The most common species of reed is the Arundo donax, native to Asia, which has nevertheless for some time now colonised the Mediterranean region. Resembling bamboo it has a protective spirit; often it’s the only dense vegetation available for local fauna and numerous bird species to nest and sleep amongst its reed beds. It is also used as a material for construction in roofing and for furniture. Its dancing movement in the wind while developing also lends it another of its extraordinary features; use as an integral part of woodwind musical instruments.

Invented to throw dancing shadows

Malleable, flexible and with an unadulterated quality. That’s why reeds are among our favourite materials for creating lighting. Shades, lamps and garlands that decorate with a natural light but which above all cast a warm and cosy light, of playful illumination and suggestive shadows like those at sun set.

At the end of its life, the light of our reed objects goes out to merge again with nature.

We do not add any artificial treatment to our clay pieces. In their decline, they blend in with the environment again. Because our essence is the commitment to the Earth and the future of people.
