Description
MATERIAL
Clay. Elemental, primordial. It’s been around since the very beginning of man manipulating material for practical and artistic purposes. Witness to our evolution as a species, of our way of building, eating, trading and decorating. Of life. Brass. A golden mixture of copper and zinc. Infinite possibilities in architecture and décor. Resistant to rusting and to saline environmental conditions. Little brother to gold thanks to its similarity and shimmer. A treasure that is extraordinary in its own humble way.
CRAFT TECHNIQUE
Not to dwell too much on the philosophy. THERE’S NO NEED. We know that the ingredients that make clay, semi-liquid mix of water and sand made up of particulate sediment and silt, can be transformed into beautiful decorative objects. Crafted pieces like vases, sculptures or simple decorative objects. Not as hard as alloy materials, and without the shine of gold but these elements do evoke the spirit of the ground, of that which is authentic, of our ancestors. We have known and worked with brass since prehistoric times. The way it’s manipulated, polished and how over the centuries it has come to be perfected. Our craftsmen have been nourished by this know-how. They are expert at cutting and forging it. They are knowledgeable about how to manipulate it according to its composition and temperature. And how it’s not the same when mixed with other metals, even if in small quantities. They know how to transform the fine sheets to create functional objects, useful pieces, everyday or decorative things that are simply beautiful.
