MATERIAL
Beech wood (Fagus sylvatica). Fagus, from “to eat, to nourish”; a tree that has accompanied life in European forests for centuries. Its wood, firm and serene, lends itself to being shaped with precision and softness, naturally embracing form. With a uniform grain and light tones with a subtle pink hue, it is a quiet and elegant material, inviting the creation of balanced and timeless pieces.
Fique (Furcraea andina). Growing freely in rosettes shaped clusters of up to 100 leaves, generally ending in a sharp needle like point. A succulent plant made of fleshly stalks, functional in its resistance to drought and very hardy with a beautiful range of colours in the raw.
CRAFT TECHNIQUE
For its strength and its ability to adapt to form, for the softness with which it can be worked and its natural balance, at Let’s Pause we love beech. It allows us to bend, shape, and bring to life pieces that emerge from the material with honesty. Benches, coat racks, stools… When a material responds with such harmony, it is impossible not to imagine it inhabiting every space, bringing calm and coherence.
Our craftswomen weave the fique fibre yarn using different age-old techniques learned from their masters. Knowing hands with extraordinary dexterity that create unique collections , where knot by knot the elegant pieces emerge and entire families are supported through their work.
AFTER CARE & CLEANING
We recommend using a dry cloth for cleaning. If the seat is stained, it can be scrubbed with mild soap and water, ensuring it is well dried afterwards. To clean any stains on the wood, you can use a cloth dampened with ammonia.
