Description
Rengo is a woven fique pendant light by Let’s Pause that celebrates the beauty of bringing together nature, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design. Inspired by the Japanese word “rengo”, meaning union or alliance, this distinctive lighting piece combines two ancestral textile techniques: handloom weaving and crochet. The result is a sculptural pendant lamp that expresses the harmony between different materials, skilled hands and creative traditions.
With its cylindrical silhouette, organic textures and carefully crafted seams, Rengo brings natural elegance and personality to contemporary interiors. Its woven surface gently diffuses the light, while its open shape allows warm illumination to reach the spaces below, creating comfortable and inviting atmospheres.
Materials
The defining material of Rengo is natural fique fibre (Furcraea andina), obtained from a resilient succulent plant that grows in large rosettes of elongated leaves. These leaves provide strong and flexible plant fibres, valued for their distinctive natural textures and beautiful range of earthy tones.
At Let’s Pause, we work with fique without artificial treatments, preserving its authentic appearance and organic character. Natural variations in colour and texture are part of the material’s beauty, ensuring that each lamp has its own unique identity.
The combination of natural fibre with contrasting crochet details in white, black and warm copper or terracotta-inspired tones gives Rengo a refined contemporary appearance. These carefully selected colour combinations highlight the woven surface and accentuate the lamp’s cylindrical form, offering different decorative possibilities for modern interiors.

Artisanal Technique
The Rengo woven fique pendant light is created through the union of two complementary handcrafted processes: traditional handloom weaving and crochet. This combination is the defining feature of the collection and gives the lamp its symbolic name.
The main body of the shade is woven on a traditional manual loom, using a centuries-old technique that works the fique fibres while preserving their raw, natural texture. This creates an expressive woven surface with subtle irregularities that reflect the authentic beauty of the material.
The different woven sections are joined with delicate double crochet stitching, creating the characteristic seams that define Rengo’s cylindrical structure. The upper and lower edges are also finished with crochet, using the same colour as the side seams to achieve a harmonious and carefully balanced design.
Each Rengo lamp is handmade by skilled women artisans who apply weaving knowledge passed down through generations. Their expertise transforms natural fibre into a contemporary design object, celebrating the value of traditional techniques and the human craftsmanship behind every piece.
Rengo provides warm, even ambient lighting, making it ideal for illuminating dining tables, living rooms, bedrooms and carefully designed hospitality spaces. Its distinctive shape and generous presence allow it to become a statement piece, while several pendant lamps can be combined to create elegant lighting arrangements in larger interiors.
Each lamp includes a 2.5-metre black textile cable, a black lamp holder and a black aluminium ceiling canopy for installation. For a warm and welcoming atmosphere, we recommend an E27 LED bulb with a colour temperature of 2700 K.

More than a source of light, Rengo embodies the Wild Luxury philosophy of Let’s Pause: transforming natural materials into meaningful contemporary objects while preserving the beauty, knowledge and authenticity of traditional craftsmanship.
Care and Cleaning
To preserve the natural beauty of the fique fibres, gently wipe the surface with a slightly damp cloth and allow it to dry completely. Any creases caused during transport can be carefully removed using steam, directly or through a protective cotton cloth, following the recommended care instructions. Always disconnect the lamp from the electrical supply before cleaning or maintenance.
