Hotel Valldemossa: A natural sanctuary in the most beautiful place on Earth

THE NEW PROJECT BY IT MALLORCA IS A NATURAL SANCTUARY THAT GOES BEYOND THE TRADITIONAL LUXURY HOTEL CONCEPT, OFFERING A TRANSFORMATIVE JOURNEY TOWARDS WELLBEING AND LONGEVITY THROUGH DESIGNER SPACES CREATED FOR ARTISTIC DIALOGUE AND THE CONTEMPLATION OF MALLORCA’S NATURAL AND ARTISANAL BEAUTY. WE TALK WITH ONE OF THE OWNERS ABOUT THEIR LOVE FOR AUTHENTICITY AND OUR HANDCRAFTED LET’S PAUSE CREATIONS.

Valldemossa is a village within the Serra de Tramuntana, a mountain range of Mallorca, that was described by National Geographic as one of the most beautiful places on the planet. A historical enclave surrounded by mountains that emits calm and a spiritual energy which completely captivated Miguel Conde and Cristina Martí, owners of the IT Mallorca Unique Spaces hotel chain.

The idea of creating an exclusive sanctuary of calm in this enclave started with the acquisition of an imposing collection of architectural buildings, located just a short walk from an urban settlement. The next step was clear: surrender to the local Mallorca character of the buildings and the immensity of the surrounding landscape.

“Nature is the common thread that runs through all the spaces and the services that are offered by the Hotel Valldemossa. We wanted the guests to connect to that and be able to enjoy the gardens, the birds, the scent of rosemary and lavender, as well as the sounds of the Serra.”

Miguel Conde y Cristina Martí

One of the characteristic approaches of IT Mallorca interior designers is their combination of elements that reflect the history of the building with contemporary pieces that add a modern and stylish air.

Therefore, the original massing of the traditional Mallorca architecture has been maintained for the Hotel Valldemossa. With the collaboration of designer Luis Fernández a new relaxed sophistication is created featuring prestigious designer furniture and quality brands that reference the French mid-century aesthetic of the 1950s, and includes original pieces from Charlotte Perriand, Le Corbusier and Miguel Milà as well as furniture from firms like Cassina, De Padova, Davide Groppi, Sancal and Classicon, together with Let’s Pause.

The contemporary art of the piano nobile also plays an important role, with original pieces from emerging and established creators, both Spanish and international, all however chosen under the artistic criteria of the renowned Galería Alzueta.

The overall effect is one of harmony, without unnecessary excess, and a natural warm ambience that transmits the philosophy of silent luxury which Conde uses to create all his singular spaces.

For Miguel Conde, the pieces created by Let’s Pause reinforce his desire to use natural materials, recycled, organic and sustainable, and for the selection of unique handmade pieces that add personality to the space.

The warm and intimate light that the handmade Couro lamps project, the textures of its leaves and the contrast with the colour of the surrounding walls draws the eye to every corner where they illuminate the ambience, adding a sophisticated touch.

The FAIAL and CAMILO headboards in the bedrooms, hand woven using fique natural fibres, and the SALADA esparto baskets by Let’s Pause perfectly reflect the Mediterranean style and the traditional materials of the island.

The GEMMA hangers, made by upcycling extremely hard-wearing seeds, are among Miguel’s favourite Let’s Pause pieces.

“What’s most fascinating about the Gemma hangers is knowing that they really are seeds, living nature, that don’t look like seeds at first glance. Mother nature brings something unique into every room.”

Miguel Conde

“In IT Mallorca, we are committed to Let’s Pause because we share a love for authenticity.”
