The new hanging lamp Rengo from Let’s Pause combines the richness of craft traditions with elegant modern design. Inspired by Japanese culture that celebrates the beauty of the joining (Rengo) of different techniques, this collection brings together two weaves: the manual loom and crochet.
Rengo is the result of two working techniques that produce very different weaves. The main body of the lamp is woven in a fique fabric, using a manual loom with centuries of tradition, where the fibres are roughly worked before the spinning process.
The woven pieces are joined together using a delicate double crochet stitching, lending the lamp a cylindrical form while highlighting the beauty of the joining seam. The lower and upper borders of the lamp are also finished with the crotchet stitching, using the same colour tone as the two side seams.
The final result is a unique lamp with an organic design: each Rengo ceiling lamp is a one-off, not only because of the manual process that involves weaving on a loom and crotchet, but also because of the natural variations of tone in the fique fibres. The colours used for the crocheting, similarly, highlight the natural beauty of the fique that lend it suggestive nuances:
Measuring 42 cm in diameter and 58 cm high, the Rengo lamp offers a noteworthy presence without being intrusive, and its dimensions are perfect for combing several fittings within larger spaces.
It provides a soft, warm ambient lighting, perfect for creating cosy atmospheres within any room. Its cylindrical form allows the light to be evenly projected downwards, making it particularly suitable for lighting dining tables, nightstands or adding a feature at the end of a sofa.
