At Let’s Pause we cherish Menorca dearly. We connect deeply with its slow-paced lifestyle, its light, its traditional architecture and that ever-present dialogue between the sea and nature that conditions day-to-day life. When the authors of spaces such as Carme Carretero or Juana Vilafranca include our furniture and organic designer lamps within their projects on the island, our hearts skip a beat, and our eyes become misty.
Menorca is breeze, serenity, the scent of sea and earth. An island where everything moves slowly and every gesture —walking barefoot, closing your eyes to the sun, breathing in the pine trees— takes on a special meaning. It’s no coincidence that our natural, handmade pieces have found their home here.
Declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1993, Menorca is a benchmark for sustainability and conservation. A commitment that naturally aligns with the Let’s Pause philosophy: to create with respect, to live with awareness. Today, we celebrate that connection through projects that embody harmony between beauty, soul, and place.
Refurbished by interior designer Carmen Carretero, Cales Fonts is an homage to the traditional houses found in the small port town of Es Castell. From its floors of white clay tiles made by hand to the lime washed marés stone walls, everything in this dwelling revolves around peace, serenity and the Mediterranean light.
Curved forms, vaulted ceilings and warm materials create an immersive space, filled with calm and harmony. A space where Let’s Pause pieces, such as the COURO vegetable leather lamps, lend quality and texture. Its tenuous and organic lighting invites a slowed down pace, to look, to contemplate. As Carmen points out:
The various Let’s Pause pieces – armchairs, benches, lamps, hangers, stools, chairs– have also been featured within other homes on Menorca created by Carmen. Characterful projects of unique sensibility that explore the aesthetic of pure Mediterranean design in which nature and the organic take pride of place. Projects that illustrate how Let’s Pause creations featuring organic materials connect with their creative soul.
“Let’s Pause provides me with unique elements, that reflect the values I am trying to capture for my projects: organic design, warmth and sustainability.” — Carmen Carretero
Our light garlands in natural fibres are also a typical element of island nights. They are strung out over terraces, gardens and beach huts, lending a sophisticated rural chic flourish to events and celebrations.
Can you picture a wedding banquet in an olive grove? The outdoor lighting by Let’s Pause is perfect for creating an authentic rustic ambience feeling. For this project, the Kos garlands provide light along the shared tables while the Barbaria garlands line the dance floor area as if they were fireflies celebrating the intensity of life
The Sant Ignasi Rural Hotel, on the other hand is an architectural jewel converted into a haven of calm. Its founder and creator, Juana Vilafranca, has imbued it with a vision deeply rooted to the land: from the olive-green coloured shutters to the clean lines of the furniture elements, everything at Sant Ignasi makes an impression without trying too hard.
In collaboration with practices including La Rosa Maura, the hotel combines traditional architecture, contemporary art, indigenous nature and soulful design. The artisanal pieces from Let’s Pause are harmoniously combined in bedrooms and public spaces, adding light and character to the ambience and helping to create a laid-back setting where the luxury of the surroundings derives from its authenticity.
“Menorca shows us how to value that which is essential. The saying ‘Poc a poc’ (little by little) perfectly captures the lifestyle: leisurely, calm and deeply connected with the surroundings.” — Juana Vilafranca
Each of these projects represents a way of living that inspires us: houses and hotels where nature is always present, without being overbearing. Where the objects evoke a sense of calm and the materials recall their origins. Where time passes slowly. Menorca reminds us of what really counts in life.
