Beauty begins at the root
The collection CONTI by Let’s Pause is a unique creation that brings together simplicity, elegance, and a deep respect for nature.
Inspired by the renowned paper compositions of designer Isamu Noguchi, Conti is crafted from sustainably recovered olive tree roots: when the tree completes its life cycle, we transform this wood into two beautifully designed luminaires, a candle holder, and a small-format vase. Four pieces that bring warmth and organic character to any shelf, table, or corner.
At Let’s Pause, Japanese design provides an ongoing font of inspiration. We are fascinated by its way of honouring nature through pure lines and quality materials in a simple expression.
One of our favourite designers is Isamu Noguchi: after observing his paper compositions and his famous AKARI lamp, we were overwhelmed by the desire to apply that classic aesthetic to one of the materials that we are most passionate about: the olive tree root.
This is how the Conti pendant lamp was born, a light fitting that not only illuminates spaces, but also pays homage to nature itself through craft. The creative process behind it where the component pieces are treated like the beads of a necklace, remind us of a mantra used in meditation, an opportunity for reflection and respect for the raw material provided by the Earth.
A sculptural piece offing multiple compositions
Conti is not only a designer ceiling lamp, but also a work of art that invites interaction. Made up of 17 individual parts that can be combined in different formats, Conti allows the user to customise the lamp to suit the space and or the circumstance. Like a bead necklace, each part of the olive is turned by hand, respecting its knots, scars and colour variations lending them a unique and singular beauty.
Its sculptural language now expands into new typologies that share the same sensitivity.
Same material, same sculptural essence
In 2025, the Conti family grew with three new pieces that extend its sculptural language: Conti Table, a table lamp that radiates warm and serene light; Conti Candle, a hand-carved candle holder that offers an intimate and delicate point of light, enhancing the simple magic of a candle; and Conti Pot, an organic vase that celebrates the unpredictable grains and shapes of olive tree roots.
A craft process rooted in sustainability
Each piece in the CONTI collection reflects the craftsmanship behind its creation. Carefully selected olive root is shaped entirely by hand by a skilled cabinetmaker, respecting the unique character and natural beauty of the wood.
The result is a collection of lamps and design objects that go beyond decoration to tell a story: one of creative reuse, where a natural material is given a new life and transformed into art.
Adaptable design and surround lighting
The Conti lamps are conceived as an ambient indirect lighting, suitable for any space. Their LED light source is integrated, in such a way that the bulb becomes another piece of the structure, allowing the light to flow uninterrupted, equally highlighting the timber materiality as well as the surrounding ambience.
