Each of the shades is made entirely by hand. The artisans work the fique fibres into two threads and a single crochet stitch, till they create a lightly textured plant-based mesh. Subsequently they are sewn onto a slender aluminium frame structure that supports the volume without weighting it down.
The organic brown tone comes from the most mature fique leaves free from any chemical treatment of additives. As the light passes through the mesh soft shadows play on the surrounding surfaces.
Maar Stone gets its rounded shape from stones that have been worn down over time by flowing water. A calming element with a broad and low silhouette, designed to anchor the gaze, suitable for any corner of the home.
Its sculptural expression illustrates how lamps made from natural fibres can add an organic texture to different spaces, from living rooms to entrance porches or even hotel lobbies.
The slender silhouette of Maar Drop suggests a droplet of water suspended in the air just before falling to earth. The elongated shape adds verticality and allows for creating luminous compositions, whether hanging from ceilings or at floor level.
When combined with Maar Stone the composition appears as if frozen in time as the droplet hangs over the stone.
The new Maar Pod completes the series with a smaller scale and more versatile lamp. The name suggests a pod or seed capsule: a contained form, protective and organic that appears to safeguard the light within.
Pod is ideal for side tables, shelves, bedrooms or combined with the other lamps from the Maar collection.
Maar lamps add an even and immersive illumination to interior spaces or semi-enclosed areas like porches. Hand-woven, with skilled care, they reflect the commitment of Let’s Pause to the planet Earth, traditional craftsmanship and the people that make that possible.
The shades are free from any artificial treatment and at the end of the lifespan they revert to the same ecosystem.
